Jake & Stav from Bluejuice with JJJ's Scott Dooley discussing "The Man Pash"
- Dools: It's time for the Sunrise story
- Jake: So we had to do Sunrise which we were kind of nervous about
- Dools: A lot of people who listen to this show, they've been up for maybe about half an hour
- Jake: Absolutely, well believe me I know how you feel, I really do
- Dools: So they don't know what Sunrise is
- Jake: Well sunrise is a time when the sun breaks over the horizon and causes a thing called day which you are experiencing right now.
- Dools: Yeah right
- Jake: To celebrate that the humans have put together this sort of program called Sunrise and it's based on the American "Today Show" so it's very kind of glitzy looking and everyone is like "mmm nice to talk to you guy I've only just met and read the press release on" etc. Yeah and so it's a weird place for us to be. Unlike Triple J we don't know them that well and all that kind of stuff, and also its pressure to do it. It's TV and it's live and you freak out
- Stav: PRESSURE!
- Jake: So we thought "What are we going to do?" SO we went in, you know I thought I'm not a great singer or anything, although Stav is
- Stav: heeey! cmon!
- Jake: No no it's okay. Hey nation, don't call in and make me feel better, you can do that on facebook, wait for the status update.
- Jake: We got Manchoir to do the vocal cause i thought it was going to be a kinda dry or whatever and wanted it to sound good so they came in and did it and they're all friends of ours who are comedians and you know the group
- Dools: yeah yeah
- Stav: and tradies and stage managers
- Jake: and they look like men, MEN they have beards and singlets and stuff. And anyway it was really funny, we did the song and it went well and at the end of the song I'd planned, just cause i figure you've got to get something in there dont you. It's live TV its a mainstream audience, you want to freak them out a bit
- Dools: Not sure Ricky Lee has this attitude when she's does Sunrise
- Jake: No doubt she does weird stuff in her personal life and i think she should bring it up more
- Dools: Right
- Jake: So the point is at the end of the song, it was all good they sang well, then I turned around and kissed my friend Liam, ah, right on the mouth with a bit of tongue, you know
- Dools: and Liam is ah, this is a mutual friend of ours
- Jake: yeah Liam Nesbitt, yeah a fantastic one
- Dools: He is one of the hairiest men in Australia
- Jake: Yeah he is a blokey man and he has false teeth cause his teeth all fell out at one stage, got knocked out or whatever, so he has these false teeth. I wanted him to pull out the false teeth and have nice long bits of drool on them and then to really hoe in with the tongue.
- Dools: mmm
- Stav: He is very hairy. Kissing his face is like kissing my arse
- Jake: Do you know what can I say, and I've done both, it is an accurate comparison. But he doesn't have a vertical mouth. His outh is definitely on the side
- Dools; Horizontal
- Jake: Yeah horizontal thank you. But I have to say, it wasn't that weird. They did however cut straight to an album image
- Dools: Yeah they did
- Jake: Basically I turned around and did it straight away and the you heard everyone on the floor go
- Stav: HO HO HO HO
- Dools: HA HA HA HA
- Jake: and then the album title came up and Kochie and Mel kind of walked over to have a chat and they both like kind of 'oooo hey aaaah wooow? How about that, ahhh?'
- Stav: You freaky kids!
- Jake: Exactly and I think they thought it was over and then I went for Kochies midrift with my hands
- Dools: You went for, you tried to touch Kochie?!?
- Jake: Yeah tried to grab a bit of jawish . .
- Stav: But you can't just go for Kochie
- Jake: No no you can't. He was really out of there like a figure skater, on the balls of his feet. Out of there!
